Furniture from Recycled Materials
These days practically everything you own or purchase has some amount of reused materials in it. Paper is probably one of the most obvious products where old sheets and boxes are easily reclaimed and turned into new salable material. Take a look around your home as well. Many of the materials used in constructing it are probably made from old wood, plastic, and metal. All of this boils down to having a lower impact on the environment and reducing some of the negative effects of producing new materials.
What about your home furnishings though? Used pieces always seem like a poor choice since they can smell or be partially broken. Sure it’s a great way to make sure nothing is wasted, but often this means a reduction in the appearance and comfort of your home. Yet, just like the rest of the materials around your home, you can find furniture from recycled materials.
This is a huge realm of possibilities for your home. It can mean simply purchasing plastic materials that are made from reused plastics that look completely new. Or it can be old scraps of wood that have been glazed and reclaimed to produce vintage looking pieces. It can even mean bizarre pieces made from a random assortment of stuff that you might think could never be turned into something you could sit in or eat off of.
Regardless of the form it takes, you’re making a good impact on our environment and best of all you’re most likely to end up with a piece that no one else has, or is just simply unique compared to all the other products you could fill your home with.
